Integration of a team

Teamwork is an integration of team members. The students break up into groups of 5 to 6, sitting in a circle. The groups discuss and choose five qualities most essential to being a friendly and welcome personality and present them in detail on a chart. Each group prepares a poster neatly, showing their five chosen qualities through pictures cut out from newspapers or magazines. These posters are displayed. The students move around seeing the signs and copy down on a sheet of paper the various qualities listed on the posters.

Corporate Team Building  is team management, which helps them to accomplish the given task. Many qualities will be repeated on different posters- they should put a tick against that quality each time they find it repeated. The more the tick marks against quality, the more critical it is. From all these qualities, the students choose one or two qualities they need most to develop. The same procedure is followed to find out the qualities that make a person disagreeable and unlikeable. Group sharing is done as before. The new posters made students note down the unlikeable attributes presented. The teacher helps and coordinates.

Skills required for individual team members

The term personality is derived from the Latin word “persona.” Freudenberg defines character as a stable system of complex characteristics by which the individual’s life pattern may be identified. Because of one’s personality, every person is a precious mystery. Character includes external appearance, intelligence, expression, creativity, individuality, behavior, etc. Personality development means integral and wholesome development of a person; it has physical growth, intellectual development, emotional development, social development, moral development, and spiritual development. Personal integrity is the basis of many different kinds of values.

How to manage a team

Integrity includes and goes beyond honesty. Honesty is telling the truth; in other words, conforming one’s words to reality. Integrity is working to our stories; in other words, keeping promises and fulfilling expectations. This requires an integrated character, an oneness, primarily with self but also with life. One of the most important ways to manifest integrity is to be loyal to those who are not present.

Enthusiasm in team 

Enthusiasm and success go hand in hand. Spirit inspires confidence and builds loyalty. Hunger is a habit that one can acquire and practice. Many decades ago, Charles Schwab, who was earning a million dollars a year, was asked if he was being paid such a salary because of his exceptional ability to produce steel. He replied, “I consider my ability to get enthusiasm among the men is the greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person, is by appreciation and sheer encouragement.”

Responsibilities in team

Responsibility is to accept accountability. Acceptance of responsibility is a reflection of our maturity and integrity. A person who does not take responsibility for his or her action is not entrusted with important tasks. Our objectives are to cultivate responsible behavior. Ancient Indian wisdom teaches us that our commitment is to the community. This is a responsibility in the team.
